Millwood fish story
First time at Millwood. I get there Sunday pm and launch at Jack's Isle just to scout around the immediate area for the fishing trip the next morning.
Monday at first light. Get launched and don't know where to throw my top water, it all looks so good!
Not much happening the first 30 min. Getting a bit ansy, seems I should have several by now. Only one about 1.5 lbs. At least the skunk is off. I was getting myself hemmed in with heavy vegetation so I got back to the boat lane coming out of the boat ramp to head out to the channel.
Right at the mouth of the boat lane and channel I see the current moving fairly well into a cut. I had thrown my topwater and then got distracted with something in the boat and got a hit on the bait. Threw back in and got another, both real nice 3 lb bass. I could see the cut had activity of fish hitting around, not schooling but it just looked "active". Put down the top water, hit the spot lock and starting chunking a swim bait.
For the next 15 min I caught either a nice size largemouth, white bass or got bit and lost it. The next 15 minutes I hooked up on every other cast. The next 15 minutes maybe every third or fourth cast.
Man, it was crazy and just pure lock on my part to be there at the right time and place. Must have caught 25+. I'm a catch and release guy so they are still out there for someone else. Gee, what an outing. I could go out there 100 more times and not be anywhere close to that kind of action. Beginners luck it was.
