Mercury 150 pro xs 4 stoke shape

I wonder why Mercury changed the design of the 150 pro xs 4 stroke but made the 115 look like the 175 and up. Those look bada$$ compared to the 150. Just my opinion

The 150 was the first of the larger 4-strokes, it's been out for 13+ years now, so it was time for a refresh. As for the shape... many of us didn't care for the shape of the V8 when it came out (but... it grew on us soon).

I mean, you can always slap this bad boy on your rig. I wish I could have had this as an option when I bought my Ranger Z518. I think I would have went for it. AHAHHAHA

Looks very similar to the 175 Pro XS 4 stroke, I'm sure there are some differences, but doesn't look like many.

Probably not many, but I purchased in late 2018, model year 2019, so they were only rated to 150. The next year, had I waited, I could have hung a 200 on the back.

    PS: My boat is a Z518 (Non-C / L boat), so it's only rated to 150.

Looks like they moved the 150 from the production line of the 75 to 150 family to production line of the 175 to 250 family. The first hint was that the new 150R has DTS which previously started at 175 HP then it was confirmed by the fact that the 150R is 3.4 liter (same as the 175) as opposed to 3.0 liter on the old 150.
Smart move on Mercury’s part to detune the 175 and eliminate separate castings and part manufacturing of the old 150 while delivering a better product to the consumer.
    Good job Mercury.

So is Mercury only offering, or going to only offer, the 150hp in the Racing version and get rid of the inline 4 Pro XS and FourStroke versions? Or are they coming out with 6 cylinder versions of the non-racing motors? Merc's website still shows only inline 4 150hp Pro XS and FourStroke.

Yeah I don’t know. I have no inside knowledge just speculating based on the specifications.
Don would have to weigh in on that.

They still offer the 150 and 150 ProXS Fourstrokes. I've seen no indication of them dropping them from the lineup... the 150R is a totally different animal offered by Racing.
