Hello everyone, I am posting to this forum due to the wealth of knowledge not found anywhere else.

I purchased a 2022 24’ tritoon used last year with 52 hours on the clock. At the time of the test drive, there was only one battery onboard.
During the sales process, the manager stated that they were going to install a second battery with a new disconnect switch at no charge.
What a deal! I thought.

So we took several trips on the lake. We always find a cove and hang out for several hours.

Now the issues begin…..

Having installed an onboard charger, we are starting to have starting issues.

Finding the post on using the recommended battery for the engine brought me here.

Current list of equipment installed:

Engine battery: Interstate 24M-XHD 1000 MCA 800 CCA 135 RC
Auxiliary battery: (name covered) 24 MSJ 1000 MCA 800 CCA-Standard Flooded
Noco Genius GENPRO 10x2
4 position Battery Switch

The switch is wired so the batteries are connected in parallel in the both position. All of the “clean power” leads are at the engine battery.

Now I realize I have the wrong batteries and probably hooked up incorrectly.

Here are my thoughts….

Either one Relion RB100-HP using the already installed NOCO or
An XCA31-1400 AMG engine battery plus a VMAX MR137-120 AMG auxiliary battery, a separate 25 amp charger to recharge the batteries after use and still use the NOCO for a maintainer.
Add some kind of charge controller inline from the alternator to both batteries (whatever is recommended).
Relocate the helm harness from the battery select switch (with the exception of any clean power leads) to the auxiliary battery.

Thank you,
Mark
