Trim cap won't come off the ram

Hello everyone, I've got a 2003 Ficht 200 and I'm trying to replace the trim seals. The inner seal on the cap between the cap and the rod is bad. My issue is I can't get the cap off the ram because the end of the rod is flared out a bit, so it can't slide off. Can't find anything online... Any help is appreciated, thanks.
