Optimax Starting Beeps, MAP sensor, Throttle Response?
Hello BBC - Long time reader, first time poster.
Optimax 225 - Serial - 1B012573
3 separate but potentially relatable issues.
1. When turning the key on (prior to start) I receive the single ready beep. When I turn the motor over, I am receiving a longer but single beep. Similar posts have mentioned potentially a voltage issue on startup. I have a brand new VMAX XCA31-1400 battery for starting the Opti. I have checked all connections from battery to starter. No voltage drop, and showing 12.60V DC all the way through.
2. Randomly, I will receive a MAP sensor check engine error on my smartcraft gauge. The MAP sensor is considered "new" as I just replaced it recently. I have been reading and learning about the 5v circuit that feeds these sensor and the potential issues that can be caused with 12v circuit tying into the 5v. I have checked the Orange/Black and Yellow/Purple wires at both the MAP and the TPS, both showing 4.98V. Unknown where to go to determine if the beep from #1 and #2 are related in some way.
3. This could be my own OCD, however, I have a delay in throttle response that I'm not familiar with on other outboards. When out of the water (with muffs), I put the motor in gear (once heated up to operating temp) and the throttle response is directly in line my movement of the binnacle. When I am in water, the throttle response is delayed, meaning. I don't really have a mid range response, until I'm quite close to wide open throttle, then everything catches up as it should.
Even with these 3 issues, the motor will fire up without hesitation. I have no other beeps that occur. The motor runs strong without hiccups (albeit, doesn't have minor hesitations during the warm up phase), but overall I would say that the performance is strong.
Please let me know thoughts, further troubleshooting steps. The complexity of the Optimax makes me thing in some ways these could be related, but that is all hypothetical. I have not been able to tie anything together yet.
