Man I hit a lot of stuff

On this river my trolling motor gets beat up. we fish so shallow and there are logs and cypress knees everywhere. I feel like my Ghost isn't as strong as it once was even with new batteries. I don't hear any noises but could I have weakened it internally ? Like gears or something? I am also wondering if that's why I had to replace batteries after 2 1/2 years. Could be draining the batteries. Is there anyway of knowing by symptoms or is it something that has to be looked at?

Maybe you could perform a Amp draw check? That might identify if your motor is failing.

good idea. it's not failing it just doesn't seem as powerful. Meaning it's not going dead that is. My buddy has the same motor and boat and his feels way more powerful, especially at lower speeds. My just be in my head though

If you run the Ghost with 36v the power does increase. not a chance one of you is running 24v is there?

Compare your prop to a brand new prop. If you're constantly hitting stuff or plowing thru silt/mud you may have worn down your prop or rounded the leading edges or knicked it enough to lose efficency.

You don't need a trolling motor, you need a rototiller!

There’s some old threads on BBC about guys using MK33 props on ghosts. Years ago I milled a MK 33 to fit my xi5 because the factory prop was weak, and brittle. I gained 1 mph top speed and never broke the prop again. To mill it down a little, I used a milling bit in a drill press set the down stop on the press and would cut about a 1/16 of a inch at a time making circles holding the prop with my hand with the prop resting on the table.

May want to check the head for water intrusion. Other than head damage, or low battery power, not much else to cause your issue. If you have taken real hard hits the prop shaft may have bent taking out seal...fishing line on shaft will take them out too.

I checked to see if it was bent and didn't look bent and no fishing line was there. Could be water intrusion. How would I go about checking for water intrusion? Also could I have knocked the head out of balance and caused power loss. i have seen/heard of that on older motors
