    going rate for laying shingles

Anyone got a clue on the going rate to lay shingles. All the prep work will be done. Just need an estimate on the rate to lay shingles. 18 square if that helps.

Get a few different quotes, prices vary a lot from one company to the next.

Back when I was helping one of my friends do roofs he was charging $150/square for a tear off and put down new. That was 10 years ago now though.

The price of $150/square that my buddy charged was for labor only. No materials like others have posted above have that have them baked into their costs.

I'll add any poor flashing like chimneys and roof vents, or poor OSB/plywood sheets to replace. Then any ridge vent type work need's etc.

18 Sq. of up and over 4/12 ranch can be a lot different than 18 Sq. of 8/12 around 2 dormers and a chimney. Laborers around here are getting around $50 a Sq.

My quote was 24k for 60 sq but more complicated than your roofs
