bass pro pro qualifier baitcast combo

I typically build my rods (NFC x rays and hm blanks) but I cant justify building a rod for as little as I throw a crankbait and spinnerbait. I'm looking for a 7 ft medium power rod and a decent reel. Is there a better combo out there for under $150?

Also considering getting the crankin stick/pro qualifier combo.

I have several of those combos and like them. Hard to beat them for the $$

Find a 6'6" -7' Ugly Stik at walmart and spend the rest of the money on the reel you want. The ugly stiks have a very soft tip. I have a 6,6 that is 30 yrs old and is still my favorite crankbait rod. By the way the reel I have is the same age Shimano B1001 lefty @ about 4 to 1 ratio. Think I paid about $70 for the pair at K-Mart.

Great score Josh. I have a boatload or PQ's and Johnny Morris specials. Use them all the time, not snob appeal but great reels at a really good price. You did great for the money.

I typically throw high end custom rods (made by Potomac custom tackle obviously) and daiwa or shimano reels, but this is literally going to be a few time a year use setup. And I still have 8 blanks downstairs from the NFC $60 blank sale to build

I been fishing those combos for 20 years and for the price, they can't be beat. (I like using the cranking rods for spinnerbait rods as well)

Same here. I’m a Shimano guy, but was looking at the deal a couple years ago and bought three combos. One was actually a JM carbon lite. I like them. They cast great. The JM carbon lite reel is a painted up Pro Qualifier. I use it all the time. All three are a far cry from what the older PQ were. Much better quality.

I really should’ve taken advantage of it.. wanted to pick up a couple X-rays and a fly rod during the sale but kept talking myself out of it.. last night broke the tip off my small stream fly rod I built when a snag released and the tip smacked against a tree

I got my sone a BPS pro-Qualifier/ Daiwa tatula combo for christmas. It is my first BPS pro-qualifier rod I have purchased in about 15 years. I have been really impressed with it, especially considering the cost. I think it is great value at the current price point. I have several older pro Q. reels, and I am not a huge fan of those, the newer ones may be better - I just stray away from them based on the older models. I think the extra money for the tatula was well worth it. But again, I have not used a current BPS model reel.

Their blue crankin stick is a nice cranking rod , especially for squarebills. I have some higher end glass cranking rods, but always find myself casting the Bass Pro rod. Bought it to try 2 years ago when they had it for 70 bucks on sale.
