Slick had a TikTok about it. He doesn’t mention any names or affiliations. Just that what he’s hearing it’s a bad one.

    Prayers for those involved

Reading through the comments on some posts, possibly two deaths. Seems like one for sure

People are dragging MLF in the comments on FB for not cancelling day 2. I don't agree, especially if none of the MLF competitors were involved. Prayers to everyone involved, nobody should die just going fishing. Apparently they have a diver on scene which is never good.

Thanks for the info, that's really awful. I'm hearing there was a lot of fog out there this morning? I'm still torn on if they should have cancelled it, by the time MLF would have known a competitor was involved, lines would have already been in I'm sure. Damned if you, damned if you don't situation. Awful thing to happen.

I’m seeing that too on multiple different posts. Like I tried to explain to someone on one of those posts, Smith Lake is huge (as far as the right side being so far from the left side), and I have Verizon cell service and more places than not, I have no cell service on the lake. I just don’t know how you could let everyone know at one time to come in and the day was postponed.

For sure, seems like it just might not have been possible to recall all the anglers.

Perhaps the conversation about cancelling a day could involve day 3 before anglers even have a chance to launch. I can't remember the last time a competitor in a major event died during it. This is a really bad deal.

Not 100% certain, but I think the last death was Nik Kaylor at okeechobee in an MLF event. And they did cancel the rest of that one.

Add to that now you want all these competitors to come back adding a ton of congestion to the crash scene possibly causing more problems

They just cancelled the live feed for the day. No official word on the broadcast as to the extent of damage(s) from the wreck.

Wow...MLF just stopped the broadcast for the day, because of the crash and out of respect to victims? Doesn't sound good at all.

Reports of 2 confirmed now ..

    CULLMAN DAILY per FB ..

BREAKING: Two fatalities have been confirmed in the boat crash on Smith Lake. The crash involved an MLF fisherman being blinded by the fog, and driving into a professional guide boat.
