    Graphing a standing timber lake

I’ve got a nice boat that I want to take care of. Don’t get me wrong—I’ve hit standing timber before, and I know it’s part of the deal. But when you're on a lake where the timber tops are right at or just under the surface, how do you break that down? Do you just idle through and bump around until you figure out a path, or is there a smarter way to approach it?

I've tried to follow the creek channel etc but sometimes it's so heavy there I can't even drive a boat through it. Any tips would be appreciated thank you

Like you said. It's part of the deal. I cringe when getting high centered on a stump and it takes full reverse to work my way off of it.

I have a GT56 SI/DI ducer on my troller so if I'm in the thick of the timber I will usually just stand up front and slowly make my way through it with SI. Sometimes I'll source the GT36 on the transom for SI. My FFS on a separate pole pointed straight ahead helps avoid unseen hazards

That’s a tough one. I just fun fish (but am pretty serious) if it’s bad I’m usually on the trolling motor picking my way through slowly. Years ago I got high centered with a 16ft john boat and I could not get off! Thankfully someone was close and pulled me off! Even since I’ve been pretty nervous about stumps.
