Just got my new xplore 12 installed. I was used to clean my Helix screen with a 50/50 mixture of water and vinegar.
Just to be sure... is water/vinegar safe to use on the xplore too?

As the above says as well. If you're able, buy screen protectors and then you can just wipe with a damp cloth at the end of the day and you get the added protection. Below is a link to a less expensive version than the graph glass. I'm not sure how well they protect though.

I decided not to do a screen protector on my Xplore. I like the screen on the Xplore even better than my Apex units. Don't get me wrong, I love the Apex resolution, but the anti-glare on the Xplore is top notch and the screen is super easy to clean with a dry microfiber cloth. In addition, the Xplore screen doesn't seem to show fingerprints and/or waterspots like other Humminbird screens do.

It’s good they got a better quality screen for touch and view. I think I might still want jig protection though. Bob

I am not sure about view, many reports say the view with polarized glasses is improved on the Xplore. Not sure how a particular glass affects that. I don’t have Xplore so I don’t know. Bob

Most screens have a polarization effect that is 45 degree slanted. Humminbirds are slanted from top right to bottom left.
Polarized sunglasses are horizontal. Wearing those sunglasses and tilting your head to the right blocks the light from the screen.
The Xplore screen doesn't have the polarization effect so polarized sunglasses don't affect viewing the screen.

That eliminates that being an issue, so glare would have the same effect as other units I would guess.

Has anyone tried the product from viascreens?

I ceramic coated my screens when I did my boat two weeks ago. Just got back from a 4 day trip fishing and love it, really dont even put finger prints on the apex units now.
I bought a Viascresns protector for my Apex 19 when they first came out. They were the only ones who had a protector in the beginning.
The initial one didn't fit properly. I called and gave them some measurements and I had a replacement with a perfect fit in abiut a week. It was just a vinyl type protector, so since it wasn't glass it had no impact protection. Since it is at the helm and not really subject to impacts, I decided to keep it, after glass ones became available. I still have it on the unit and it has worked fine for almost 3 years.
