DMV where thier are no 5 hour wait ?

    Hi All
North Carolina DMV is not taking Appointments and I cant get a license online.
I have waited 4 hours in line at a few places already to be told. We wont be able to see you today!
All had at least 50 people waiting in line also.
Walk ins have to arrive after lunch, not before.
Does anyone know of a small town Dmv with a 2 to 3 hour wait?
I will travel anywhere in NC .
    Thanks

There is a website that gives you the wait times. When I was looking I got a appointment in Lexington but Thomasville seem to always have short lines.

    Hi wstutts
Everyone i have looked at says they are not taking appointments, maybe they have an opening and someone crabs it before i do!
No one needs waste thier time in Winston or Mocksville as far as what i have waited through at both places.
Yadkinville seems to be open two days a week then they send people to Mocksville or thats what a guy in line told me.
People from Charlotte were thier as well standing in line with me for hours and we were all told to go home.
Said we wont be able to fit us in.
    Thanks

This link shows where the offices are and after lunch you can see how long of a wait there is.
A mistake on your part does not constitute a emergency on my part.

You have to keep refreshing that site and the appts will change. Takes a while and some patience, but you will eventually get one. I was told that they start positing appts for the next day at midnight, lol!

I ended up driving about an hour to Troy, NC both times - two very sweet ladies in there working hard to help folks get their licenses! The state needs to fix this system as it's broke...

I am not sure they post new appointments at 12midnight. I found the. To start showing up at 7 am, and you need to be ready to grab one, they go quick. You are allowed to have two appointments, get one then start monitoring for a better choice.

    Hi
What kind of wait did you have in Troy.
Do you know what time walkins can get in line?
    Thank you

    Hi wstutts
Guess we were looking at it the same time !
All April has been booked, now appointments only available in May.
So Appointments do appear and disappear in minutes.
It doesnt appear to change at Midnight like some have suggested.
At least by what i have seen today.
    Thanks again to everyone!

    Hi billnorman1
It didnt use to be that bad here, i dont know why its that bad here now ? I heard they are privately owned?
Maybe they are privately owned everywhere?
In Mocksville Nc where i tried walkins several times thier were only 2 people, one takes lunch at 12 then the other takes lunch at 1.
Seems like they need 1 more person to help out.
Too cold for us in Delaware!
    Thanks

We moved to Delaware about 12 years ago from Maryland. Maryland has the most insolent, irregular and slow M V A that I have ever seen. Ours here in Delaware is a quantum leap ahead of Maryland.
Guards at the door, and the people will go out of their way to see you get served quickly by the proper department.

    Yeh, we have Winter here.

I didn't have to wait in Troy, I got an appointment by refreshing the appt page. You have to be patient with it and keep refreshing it - appts show up and are booked very quickly because a lot of people are doing the same thing, refreshing that page looking for an appt! If you show up and try to wait at any of the locations, it will be a while - Troy looked to be no different.

The midnight thing was when they start posting the cancelled appts from the previous day. But I found that 7-9 am was the best time to look and that's when I got both my appts.

    Hey
Yeah the ones in Winston Salem are pretty bad too, went thier 3 times every time i made it to do the door they came out and said everyone from the door back to go leave since they wont have time to get to us!
Last time i asked is thier any where to go? The person said give me a minute, came back out and gave me a slip of paper said go here they can see you.
Went to the other place and same dang thing!
    Its terrible!
we get some winter too , worst parts all the leaves to pick up and dispose of lol

I have to show up in person, I guess since i dont have any kind of tickets they think i am a fake person?
I already have the real id.
I will be taking my birth certificate, passport , ss card and some mail with my address to be safe!
    Thanks
    Everyone
