    Mega 360 ?

If I take the pos wire and the neg wire on a Mega 360 and hook it to a battery and put a wet towel on the two little sensors should it spin or doze it have to be hooked to a unit? I have The mega 360 on a dedicated battery with a switch before the mega 360 the switch has power and there’s power right where the positive and negative connects on the 360 but I can’t get the hummingbird Helix 12 to acknowledge that the 360 is connected . I put a wet paper towel on the two little sensors to make it spin but it will not. I find it odd that the power is not going to the 360 or is it.

Yes you can use a wet towel, or dunk it in water.
I use a copper mesh pad to do the M360 testing out of the water.
You don't have to short out the wet switch to see if the unit is recognizing it, just look at the Accessory Test view. The serial number and software version along with CONNECTED will be displayed. If you don't have those, you have power or connecting issues.
You could have a faulty transducer cable.

it needs to be hooked to units and turned in for it to spin.
