Is it just me? Every video I with the new eagle eye 9 , nobody ever shows their bait or lure, and the ones that do complain how you can hardly see it. What good is this unit if you can’t see your bait or lure? It might be cheaper, but it seems useless to me.
Those videos are exactly the ones I’ve watched. And multiple more. If you notice in that Russell Marine, you never do see his bait. Never seen bait in any of those videos. In fact, I watched some videos where they complained about not being able to see their bait. I’d like to see a clear picture of somebody retrieving their lure. I’ve yet to see one yet - hope I’m wrong.
If you see fish you will see your lure.
I got an Eagle Eye 9 last fall, and you most definitely can see your bait. And you can also see fish react to it. If I could post a couple of short videos I took you'd be able to see my bait hoping up off the bottom.
While fishing a spinnerbait I could see the blade, the wire connecting the blade, and the body of the bait. Now this was 20' from the boat before I could actually see the difference between the body and blade. And about 5 - 10 from the boat before I could discern the wire frame of the bait.
You most definitely can see the bait, And you can see it very well. If they're having trouble seeing the bait, then they aren't getting it into the cone angle of the sonar very good. I fished a 1/32 oz roadrunner jig head with a Bobby Garland baby shad on it, for what I thought were crappie. Ended up being about 7" largemouth bass, At least one of them were. I watched that fish come out of the small school up and behind my bait, and then eat it. The school of fish were between 30 - 40 feet from the boat.

itsahog, I sure could. I was surprised to say the least. As I said, this was very close to the boat, 5 - 10' and the bait was coming across in front of the transducer, not directly at it.
When I spoke of the little bass I caught on the 1/32 oz jig head, I forgot to mention that I had a very small split shot, about the size of a BB, on the line about 5" above the jig head. I needed a little weight for casting and to get the bait down to the school a little faster. I could see that little split shot as well. That particular school of fish was 12' down, over 18' of water.
I don't know that my settings are spot on, but I played with them quite a bit, trying different color palettes, and sensitivity settings. All of my noise rejection setting are turned off. Sensitivity I believe is at 84%. I'm very happy with my unit. Can't wait to get it out chasing some smallies this spring.

Like I've said before it's not as good as more expensive units but you can definitely see lure and fish. Caught one yesterday and watched it bite. If I get closer to the boat I can somewhat see the arm of spinner baits. But I also bought this unit with the intention of finding cover and structure before I get to it. Not so much for the watching fish bite. So for my intended use it's perfect.
Best budget based unit on the market....money no problem, go get the full blown AT2 system....just be sure and stop by the bank first!
