    New Serious Issue

Didnt really mention it much at the club tx the other day but when I came back across the sound I took on a wave that set me down on the side of the hull. (Meaning the boat landed kinda sideways...not me) So with that said didnt think much of it and went on about my business...Sunday my neck was a little sore....told myself it was the first long day on a boat get over it. Monday it was not good at all....wound up taking pills to ease pain which I hate. Went to the doctor this morning and after all was said they think I might have a herniated disc somewhere in the area of c4 - c6 in my spinal column.....around my neck area. Got not 1 but 6 shots of litocane in my neck and back.....Neck was not cool.

Saturday I have to go get a MRI at 8am on it and on top of everything the doc told me no boating till they figure out exactly what it is because of further damage. I guess Im a hard head cause I told him "Well thats one release back to work you wont be writing" meaning forget that! Guess Im getting old. Anybody ever heard of such or know of anything like this. Right now after today it feels like I got a sharp headache at the base of my neck almost like a migrain.

well....first off you ding bat!!! That type of injury is nothing to play with ......DO what the doc says or you will muck it up worse and may do more damage!!!! And be out of work and the boat forever!! Especially since you don't even know yet what exactly is going on!!!!

Trust me, it's not worth it....hurt my back years ago in an accident at work....didn't do what the docs said, still paying for that one....please Patrick....DO WHAT THE DOCS SAY!!

And just hope it's not going to be a permanent problem!

Pat in1993 I had herniated c5/c6 and bone spurs from being reended by a full size
bronco then ended up doing fusing the disk and removed the bone spurs it was a
6 week recovery, and had no problems in that area since....hope it's just a sprain...

Wow Patrick, better follow the docs instructions on that one. Get it taken care of as soon as possible so it won't continue to affect you down the road. Back problems don't normally go away by themselves. Keep us posted on it...

    Re: New Serious Issue (Basshunter2006)

Patrick I feel your pain, mine is just lower in the L5 region. A hernaited disc hurts like He!! trust me, but a ruptured one will hurt worse. Take a few days and allow it to heal up alittle. Don't just go with what a MD tells you, GO SEE a chiroprator!!! A regular MD might want to just open you up, and a chiropractor will realign you!! And they have told me for over 10 years that I should not be in the boat, especially during rough water for what it could do to my back. Screw that!!!!! I'm not going to stop fishing because of it!! You do what you want to, but I know how you feel!! Mine still hurt pretty bad from throwing it out 3 weeks ago!!!!

Gunny for one that was what I saw.....Place is call Advanced Pain Management. They specialize in sports medicine, backs, etc. Highly recommended place here for all types of therapy issues, sprains, and stresses on mucles tissue etc. I think they are moving me in the right direction. After the shots yesterday and the mucle relaxer last night which has given me a hangover this morning without the headache the place my neck is back to being very flexible with no pain right now. Im still going to get the MRI no matter to rule out disc issue fingers crossed.

    Pat,
If you're making excuses already and getting nervous about me taking Big Fish honors back from you this year.....

Don't worry about it.... Chip already has us spanked.

Seriously - hope you feel better soon.

    All the best,
    Glenn
