Fished the Region 7 tournament yesterday. Extremely tough biting following excellent bite on Saturday. Caught 13 keepers in about 3 hours prefishing under cold, windy, cloudy conditions. Best 5 prefishing would have gone around 15 pounds not counting the 30+ pound carp that came on a crankbait. Caught the first 7 on a 3/4 ounce green pumpkin jig with a zoom twin tail grub trailer in 10-12 feet of water on brushpiles out in front of docks. Switched to a Rapala DT-7 Flat crank in red craw and caught the last 6 on windy banks in 7-10 feet of water. Was fishing mid lake in the front half of major creeks.
Sunday brough bright, clear, bluebird skies and shut the fish down compared to Saturday. Fished the same areas as Saturday, but changed techniques to match the conditions. Fished the brushpiles and rocky secondary points with a c-rig with a green pumpkin brush hog and the jig-craw in 10-12 feet of water. Ended up with 8 keepers, but only had 13 pounds. Never found any "kickers". Fish seemed to be relating more to the rocks on Sunday and the brush on Saturday.
