    Virginia fishing reports forum

OK all since I am the moderator on the Va fishing reports forum I need to drum up some usage over there. Be sure to post your reports from any trips you take. Does not matter if you caught very little or nothing all info. is good. Here is a sample format for posting that you can use:

    Name: Jeff Banko
    Email:
    Date: 8/2/05
    Time: 5 am - 3 pm

    Place: Briery Creek

Weather: Light clouds but strong sun, very hot

    Water: clear

Locations: From 701 ramp to south end of the lake

    Fish: 15 lmb

Lures: buzzbait, frog, Jigs and trailer, 11" worm,

    Depth: 0 - 20 feet

Method: Started the day off throwing the buzzbaut. No takers on that so switched to throwing jig along the channel. Caught five this way biggest going around 4#s, others all around 2#s. Then worked my way over to another channel area I like. Threw the 11" worm on a c-rig. Caught 5 on that also all good size around 3 - 3.5#s also lost several that felt bigger. Finally went to the end of the lake and threw a senko over the grass. caught a few small ones and then one more that went 3.5#s. Ended the day working my way back to the launch throwing a frog on assorted pad along the way. Lost a real nice one, probably a 6 - 7 pounder doing that.

Comments: Not a bad day considering I tended to stay with the tactics I use for bigger fish. Probably 90% of the time I was throwing the jig or the big worm. Lost several fish that felt real big on the C-rigged worm. I think I am wasting my knots setting the hook too hard when I use that rig. I get soused to the cross their eyes hookset needed for the jigs that i forget to dial it down a little bit for the other methods. Oh well live and learn.

Re: Virginia fishing reports forum (vafishing)

Man I would love to post a report, the only problem is I can't get out to do any fishing. Hopefully soon.

    Name: Brad
    Email:
    Date: 5/7/15
    Time: 6am- 12pm

    Place: Potomac River near Quantico
Weather: Cloudy, strong winds turning to slight breeze, cool weather.

    Water: Stained
    Locations: Launched from Quantico

    Fish: 4 LMB

    Lures: Plastic worms, Booyah! jig

    Depth: 0-8 feet

Method: Threw a jig, buzzbait, spinner, and had no takers. Switched to some wine colored worms and that did it, my partner for 4. All decent size but fairly lean males, likely guarding the nest. Wrapped up by throwing a stanley ribbit frog for a bit, no takers again. LOTS of jumping fish though, possibly carp or snakehead. Never can tell. I got skunked again myself, but I'm getting better switching between spinning and baitcasting, heavy line and light line. I did get some solid nibbles... Next time.

90% of fish that jump in Potomac are not Bass. Gar and carp are starting to spawn.
