Yesterday after doing a grand opening for an insurance company and getting a few hours in for basscat I decided to go fishing at one of the near by lakes. Started getting late and decided to just hit up the one that was closest to my condo which was Lake Wheeler, a relatively small 650 acre lake situated inside the Raleigh, NC city limits. Was only able to get in 2.5 hours of fishing due to the gates closing at 7 pm. Started out throwing a crankbait, c-rig, and t-rig brush hog with no luck. Decided to switch over to a 1/2 ounce football head jig made by booyah. First fish I caught was a wopping 3 lbs 8 ozs. Ran to a different location and caught a 9 lb 7 oz lunker that beat my previous 7 lb 8 oz personal best. Went and picked up my buddy from the boat ramp and moved to a different location where I hooked another 3 lb 8 oz fish. With the last 30 minutes I decided to fish a big spawning flat and hooked into a 10 lb 2 oz, which set my new personal best. Needless to say I missed 4 bites after that one and was unable to catch a limit. So not only did i catch two sweet fish, but also had 26 lbs 9 oz with only 4 fish.
