    Average cost to re-carpet a 20’ boat?

If you’ve had it done recently, what did it run you? I’m sure there are variables like quality of carpet, etc. but I’m just looking for an about $$$.

This is pretty accurate, my brother used to recarpet boats. But if it an aluminum rig, probably double that

    Why would aluminum be double?

Aluminum rigs usually have carpet up the sides and console etc.

I would wager it is because many of the aluminum boats use a lot more carpet than the average fiberglass boat. Much of the interior panels and rim is carpet as opposed to being fiberglass.

I’ve had upholstery places do it and the last time I had someone do it, it was a carpet place. The owner just happened to be big into boats and fishing and did boats on the side. A lot of places don’t want to touch boats, so you just have to call and ask around locally.
the funniest thing about this particular signature is that by the time you realize it doesn't say anything it's to late to stop reading it

I bet you can save yourself a ton of money if you removed all the carpet and had it ready to go for the installer. I would estimate 80% 0f the labor cost is removing all the carpet

Don't they need the old pieces to help cut to size the new sections?

At least when I redid my old Champion, the old carpet was destroyed when removing it, and would have been totally useless as any kind of template.

Worn ripped carpet looks a hell of a lot better when you think of the $2000-3000 it would take to have it fixed.

Yes most aluminum rigs have carpet up the sides, also they just have a lot of small parts that have to be removed and carpeted. A lot more of a headache for sure. And from what I’ve seen, they carpet the boat and then install everything in it on top so the whole console has to be removed as well.

I got a quote from the folks at sea deck a couple of years ago for materials to do all of my 519VX in with sea deck. Pretty cool how they do it. If you pull the trigger they will send you full size templates for the flooring hatches and everything that is carpeted and specific to your boat. You lay the templates out and write any adjustments in size or shape needed on the template, send them back and they will send you your sea deck custom cut for your boat. Problem is, I'm cheap and the quote for materials alone was $2,600 and that was for their lower end decking. Start doing striping and logos and nice trim accent and it goes much higher very quickly.

I didn't question them further about it but I still wonder what takes up the spacing between hatches and lids that are currently lined with carpet. Got to be some pretty big gaps between with nothing wrapping around. Oh and there was a couple of other problems too. After I got the quote my eyesight got a little blurry and just like that my old carpet didn't look that bad anymore. The third problem was I just didn't feel like removing all of that old new looking carpet

Where are you located in Texas? Dallas area has 2 places that do a lot of carpet at very fair prices
