Blown Compressor - How to clean air rails.

I have a 2003 225 Mercury Optimax serial number 0T666762 that is mounted on a Nitro 929CDX. I was driving back to the ramp yesterday and when I came off plane I noticed a loud squeaking. I only ran it long enough to get it onto the trail. I took the compressor off and found that the bearing was destroyed and metal shards were everywhere. Motor was running fine with no power loss when it was running.

I ordered a new compressor, will change out the two oil filters and will clean oil lines and purge them but heard everyone talk about cleaning the air rails. How is that done? I am considering sending the injectors to Brucato or a different shop to get cleaned but that doesn’t clean the rails correct? Don’t want to damage anything else on the motor

You can clean the lines and rails with brake clean and compressed air.

To clean the lines and rails, do I need to remove the tracker valve and air regulator?

The rails, hoses, and direct injectors (at a MINIMUM) must be cleaned and verified as no longer having any debris in them. Rail teardown is not something I recommend as a DIY project as even the slightest change can affect pressures (not to mention that very aggressive spring in the AP Regulator).

Direct injectors must be cleaned, tested, and validated at ALL RPM ranges to confirm they function properly. This step is one that will require specialized equipment.

In my opinion, this is your only answer had mine done at approximately 400 hours. No previous problems just being proactive to extend the life of the engine. All work performed by Integrity Injection.

Another plus to recommendations above. Had Don, aka Integrity Injection, do mine as preventive maintenance about 5yrs ago.
