    Harley vs Indian

I've always had Harleys in my family, but I have been driving past an Indian dealership on my way home from work and they sure are pretty. What brand do you guys prefer? I will add that my local Harley dealership is closing after 60 plus years in business

The Indian dealer will probably be closed before too long if you want to be honest, that hoby is dying quickly and will take the manufacturers with it.

I'm afraid you're right. What bike do you think would be more valuable in 20 years?

I would stay with Harley. Aging demographics as the baby boomers get older will challenge all pleasure industries in the future including motorcycling. Indian is a nice bike though.

If you’re looking at a touring platform bike I’d stay with HD as it’s their bread and butter. Two caveats there though; I personally don’t care for the looks of the Indian’s and I own an Electra Glide.

That little flat tracker that Indian produces is pretty cool if you’re looking for a lighter weight bike.

Motorcycles are no different than women. What I like might drive you NUTS. Go look at them, test ride them, and decide. Or.... ask a bunch of fisherman you don't know and get the one that gets the most votes?

Indian. I’ve had 7 Harleys since 1980, last one was the anniversary 2003 Heritage Classic. When demand was high and dealers asked 3K over MSRP for $100 worth of chrome I said I won’t own another. Now all showrooms are full, should be able to get a good deal on what you decide on. If you’re looking at touring model, definitely look at the Honda Goldwing.

I have 2 Harleys, but have friends that ride Indians.

The M8 motor in the Harley’s is a powerhouse.

Indian is ahead of the game in options, and customer support.

Me too, have had 2 Goldwings, 1 HD, 1 Honda 750, and 1 Honda 305 Scrambler. I now have a HD and a Honda Goldwing Aspencade with the 1500cc 6 cylinder engine in immaculate condition. My Goldwing is now for sale if anyone is interested.

Go ride different bikes, see what you like and get it. Don’t worry about what a bunch of guys on a forum like it will be what they ride anyway.

Is this not like a Ranger, Skeeter, Basscat, Phoenix conversation?

I like the Indians better, look of them is more unique. Harley’s to me are also a dime a dozen.

I like the idea of a Gold Wing. They are no doubt excellent machines. Down side for me is I’m 6’ 4” and there isn’t enough leg room in for me.
