TK Gen I pump and seal ddamage

The pics are not good, zoom in to see the warpage of the water plate and shaft seal carrier. Unit had more than oil in it, I suspect the water turning to very hot steam caused pressures to skyrocket and the heat pushed up on the seal causing this, surprisingly the shafts turn very smooth indicating no bearing damage, It will be pulled down for inspection. Gear lube was coming out of water pick up, lube was pushed thru the water pump. Brg retainer is tight and no vertical movement in shaft.
Don Joe Savage, are you in agreement on this??

Only thing I see might be different that you suspect is that it might actually have frozen with water in it (which will distort seal carrier and bend plate).

Agree with Don, but it could also have been overfilled with gear lube, which lifts the seal and plate, then the water enters.

Thanks to both of you, never gets cold enough to freeze this time of year around hear,, Positive it was drained down by 2 ounces when serviced 20 hours ago, never seen one fail this fast, Unit has less than 200 hrs since it was replaced with one from Hinkle marine back east.
When I serviced it, that was the first time the lube had been change, way overdue, black as tar and thick but no signs of water.
Internals look just like new inside and everything still had a good oil film on it.

Savage may be right then... not very common with the HP bolt-down carrier (very common with the earlier carrier used on the old ServiceMaster gearcase). It can be done though... actually had a Sporty show up last week with 44oz of High-Perf in it.
