    Fenwick Rods, making a comeback?

Good rods in the 80’s. Are they making a comeback?

The new series seem to be legit. I have a couple of the Elite spinning rods and really like them for the price point.

They’re trying. Fenwick hired Justin Poe and Dave Brinkerhoff to revamp their rod lineups. These guys played big roles at G Loomis and are making an impact at Fenwick. The fellas at TackleTour did a nice write up last year about Fenwick’s desire to get back into the bass rod game.

Back in the mid 90’s, Fenwick introduced their Techna AV Lineup of rods. The first generation of these rods were well ahead of their time and retailed for $230 or so? To this day, the 7’ med spin rod is my favorite spinning rod I own.

I've purchased two Fenwick's (spinning and casting) the past couple of years and feel their quality has improved. I bought a new one about ten years ago and the tip broke on the first good hook set. Fenwick replaced it but that one and a couple of others have been retired and collecting dust somewhere.

My favorite rod is a fenwick elite tech 7'3" mh I use for flipping. It's such a sensitive rod. Very well designed and made.

Anyone know where I could get some old school Fenwick blanks? I love to build rods with those blanks. Very sensitive for plastics baits.

Everyone should fish with a Fenwick Elite Tech at least once in their life.

I picked up a couple at the pawn shop. so far over the years I've found a couple Loomis, Fenwick and St Croix rods dirt cheap. I stripped them down and rebuilt them. Check the garage sales and estate sales as I've found some goodies at those places to.

Always loved the previous gen of the Elite Techs, especially the handles. Only thing that I’ve found that comes close is a Fuji VSS with a KDPS hood

It's not just marketing fluff. As Capt1fish indicated, Fenwick went all-in with the new release of Fenwick rods. New mandrels, new components, new rod design/testing center, new ideas (family flex), and an updated warranty program.

Not for saltwater in the 80's, they was the cheapest rods made, back then the ugly stick blew them away IMO.
