What do you consider a long commute to work?

The wife and I drive roughly 50-60 miles each way to work. We've al.ost always had some sort of a commute over 20 miles with an exception for about 3 years. We don't consider our commute long as we really don't hit any rush hour traffic bad at all.
I get a kick out of some people's reaction to our commute. They act like we are road tripping daily....

I drive 25 miles one way....35 ish minutes on 2 lane roads and wouldn't want it to be any further. So used to it after 16 years I don't even notice it anymore.

I always felt 25 to 30 miles was my limit and planned my residency accordingly.

Sometimes I did 12 hour shifts and that made for a long day.

I think say 35 miles or more is a log commute.

Mine is nearly 40 miles and traffic is terrible. I have been doing this for over 30 years with the worst drive being 4 hrs one day this past year.

I have about a 6-7 block commute to work. Have had some longer and one shorter believe it or not. Longest was about 35-40 miles one way. That would be my limit unless the $$$$$$ was real good.

For my first full time job out of college (2014-2017) I drove 84 miles one way to the office, If I had field work (average of 10times a month) it was almost always over 100miles one way. I averaged about 38000 miles a year on my car

I switched jobs in 2017 and my commute dropped to 68 miles one way. That had me averaging 29,000 miles a year

I ended up changing companies again and my commute is down to 15miles one way. It’s so nice having a 20ish minute commute. Sometimes I miss the long commutes though, was a good way to listen to podcasts, sermons, or even just to decompress.

I didn’t realize how long a 55 minute commute was until I moved to a 13 minute commute. It’s a HUGE difference especially working 12 hr shifts.

This is my thinking, especially if having to deal with traffic!

The longest commute for me was 65 miles one way. That was from Conroe to Friendswood right down 45 through the middle of Houston and back. Traffic could make it a two hour drive and it absolutely sucked. Luckily I only had to do that three times a week for about three years. The shortest was the last six years of employment where I lived 5 minutes from work. 7 if I stopped for a slice of breakfast pizza

I’ve got about a 30 mile drive, mostly 2 lane roads and highway. Takes me about 30 minutes or so.

Worst commute I ever had was when I lived in Michigan for 3 years, Warren/Sterling Heights area (just north of Detroit). I lived 11 miles from work but would take me 40-45 minutes because of traffic. HATED EVERY DAY I lived there!!!

I used to travel to a different town everyday for work which average a 100 mile round trip. Now I just go upstairs to my office.

I couldn't see myself doing more than 30 minutes. That has been my average commute.

For me after being remote for almost a decade now any commute where i need to leave my house is too long. These days in my RV its literally about a 40’ commute for me from the bedroom to my office with stops in the bath and kitchen along the way……

I used to do a 1.5 hour each way commute into Boston on public transit. Crazy given i lived only 25 miles away, driving was worse it was 1.5 hours to 2 each way depending on traffic plus tolls and parking. I will never do that again.

Haven't worked in a long time but when I did it was never over 15 minutes from home.
