Think? Kinda looked like it might have had white in it's mouth but I was dodging the strikes too much to really check... Was my catch & release for the day

Damn near scared the cr@p outta me as it slithered across the mat outside the closed sliding door of the TV room. BTW, the door is usually open for Kwela, the dog, so she can go out. Relieved Karl was here to take care of the snake.

About 3 years ago, I was watching TV around 2:00 a.m. when a copperhead climbed up the screen to get at the little green frogs catching insects. I called 911 .. they must've dined out on that tale for some time!! Crazy woman who jammed the snake between the door & screen!

Nope. Karl carried to the back boundary & released it. He handled lots of reptiles in his misspent youth

Neighbour has identified the snake as a water moccasin .. & one of the largest she has seen! She has lived in the area for close on 30 years.

Cork? Snakes are an essential link in the food chain bro! We'd be over run with mice, rats' & toads if it weren't for them
Besides, they usually do their best to avoid us because we scare the chit out of 'em

Gonna have to get down on the specs ya know Troy. What you've shared is all good. Do the rat snakes secrete musky, skunkish smells when caught as well?

    Re: Snake... (pYr8)

I've heard that they will make a stink but I personally don't know and I've never smelled one.
Another thing to note from yer capture is that water mosscuns in relation to a snakes body are short fat with stubby tails, they ain't got whip like tails. I've seen some definite 3 footers or better.

    Re: Snake... (Corkpuller)

That is the world famous Texas Porch Viper. VERY deadly. They don't have to bite you. They "sweat" their poison. If you grab one with a leather glove the poison will go right through it. You should be dead by morning.
    Nighty nite!
