Thinking about getting a boat for our 4 months in Florida. BPS has 2023 Tracker Classics for 16k. Anyone here have one. Curious how it is for fishing. I know it isn't a rough water boat.

A boat like that could be just the ticket for fishing Florida. The best fishing in Florida is small water.
When I was shopping there were LOTs of those, practically new, second-hand. They check a box, but more often than not they are too big for "small" water and too small for "big water".

I owned a similar sized 1987 TX17 for seven years and it served me well. Coming from a Jon boat it felt huge. Two could easily fish out of it, three if they were mindful of their rod swing. The ride in heavy chop was rough but it was pretty stable with the TM down. While I much prefer my PT190 that replaced the TX17 it's twice the price and I'll freely admit that the Tracker Classic would handle 80% of my fishing needs/wants.

Its a perfect boat here in Florida. The key to really getting the most out of one is installing an anchor of some kind, I use a Power Pole Micro Anchor ... Secondly, build yourself a casting deck extension. It makes the boat allot more usefull and usable. Also adds some extra storage. I love my Classic XL. Heres a few pics of mine I built from marine grade plywood and aluminum angle stock riveted together.

I had a Pro Team 185. Great boat. It could go anywhere a fish could go.
Don't worry Ma'am....
I'm only here for the Bass.
I have a Fisher 1600 which is basically the same boat as the Tracker Classic. It is a great boat…very stable with 2 people and perfect for short runs close to the landing. With the 40hp, it’s no record breaker but it’ll get you there eventually. I’ve enjoyed mine immensely.
I was out on Lake Harding yesterday and saw a couple of these. They were getting blown around pretty bad and were fighting the trolling motor. I would want to upgrade to an Ultrex for sure. A used 24v would be perfect. Other than that, they looked like a great fishing platform.

I bought mine three years ago and like it a bunch. It has its drawbacks but it's great fishing platform. It fishes two people pretty good, three is crowded but doable. Adding a bigger trolling motor and deck extension are the first things to do. It tops out at 34 mph with my son and myself and gear, were both 200 lbs., that's with the 50 hp. We fish small 200 acre lakes normally, but have had it on bigger water, Ky/Barkley, Cumberland and it did just fine, we just put in closer to where we want to fish. Hope this helps.
50 years ago a rig like those would have been as good as you could want. They perform the same or better today. With good sense they will fish just fine even on most larger lakes. The great lakes and obviously is a different story.
Sadly, it looks like Ill have to sell mine due to moving out of state. :(

You did a great job with that deck extention, looks factory. If it was my boat I won't bother with the Micro Anchor but would install a 24v spot-lock trolling motor, 52" shaft and Lithium batteries for the TM, depending on your budget. You could use that boat on big water with maximum HP allowed, weather forcast and some common sense.
Thanks! Ya, I had big plans for it, but Ill be moving out of state, so Im forced to sell...
