Who's using these smaller 40amp Starting Lithium Batteries or similar

Anyone using the Ionic 40amp Red Cranking Battery? Or other brand smaller cranking lithium? From what I gather it's a dedicated cranking battery - but can you also run boat electrics on it as well ie Power Poles, Livewells, guages, lights etc. ie replacing a AGM G31 starting battery?

Seems to be marketed toward the saltwater crowd?

I just installed the ionic 40amp, just for starting.

It uses a different app then the blue is the only bummer.

The nice thing about that 40 is it has a on off button on top... it seems like a jump start button and is labeled that way but its actually just on or off. The instructions are poor.

It will shut off at 25% to save you some starting juice so you can turn it back on.

I'm curious about this too. I'm thinking about this battery to crank a new mercury 4 stroke and already have a lithium battery dedicated for electronics. I just need the cranking battery to crank the motor and run the livewell pumps periodically. The biggest thing I'm concerned about is removing even more weight from the back of the boat. Since changing the trolling batteries to lithium my boat now runs like crap. Feels like I can't get enough bow lift...

Yeah I always think if this stuff on a Saturday, on the water lol. Will call Andy @Drewcraft Monday but figured somebody might be using one already :).

From the website it seems clearly enough juice for starting a Merc or SHO, but wasn't sure about all the other "typical" boat wiring... in warmer weather in T's I'll basically be running Livewells constantly all day... so not sure if it would be able to keep up, plus Powerpoles, lights, bilge, etc all the normal non-electronics load. Electronics would be on dedicated 125ah Ionic if I went this route.

If not, then maybe better to just get normal 100ah for electronics, and keep motor/cranking/boat stuff on the 125ah. I just liked the ideal of the smaller footprint.

I’ve thought about getting one, think I’ll just get another 125 though.

Yeah, that is prob smart thing to do... 125/100 is same footprint, was just intrigued by smaller size of cranking version, due to the chinese fire drill required to get full size batteries in the ZX bilge

Seems almost too good to be true but looks like it would work only for starting and nothing else.

I put the smaller Ionic cranking battery (400cca) in the zero turn mower with a 23hp engine this year and no complaints. Turns over stronger than it did with a new lead-acid battery

So I talked to Andy at Drewcraft - short version is these 40ah starters are designed for smaller boats or more salt-water oriented boats generally. They are good for cranking and basic oem boat electronics like lights, gauges etc, but not for running powerpoles, livewells, cameras, stereo, etc all day.
