I recently repowered with a new Mercury 200 Pro XS with a 3-blade 23P Fury for my 2000 Ranger 518 VSX. After 30 hours at max throttle and full trim (8 out of 10) I can run 67 mph at 5600 RPM. Very happy with the ride, much faster than what I was running before (2016 200 Pro XS, 25P Fury) and very fast hole-shot. I have heard that the 200 PRO XS has a normal top RPM of @6200. The dealer said my hot-foot throttle was setup correctly so I don't suspect that it is not fully engaged due to that reason. It runs great now but should I consider moving down a pitch to say a 22 or is the lower RPM's with the full throttle straining the engine since it's not revved higher?
