60 amp breakers for Garmin Force?

I’m installing a Garmin force. I’ll have to run 2 sets of 4 ga wire as that’s what the motor calls for. Garmin calls for a breaker capable of 60 amps continuous current. The motor comes with 2 positive and 2 negative cables so this sounds pretty straight forward, and although I’m pretty decent with 12v electronics, I’m going to avoid a $3,800 mistake at all costs.

    questions:

    1. Is 60 amp rated breaker what I need for the 60 continuous amps specified by Garmin?
    2. I’m assuming each battery gets its own 60 amp breaker?
    3. Can I manually kill power at the breaker when I want to do so?
    4. How would I wire this to a 4 prong Marineco plug? I don’t want to completely hard wire it.
    5. What is the max distance from the battery to the breaker?

My understanding is you only need a single pair of 4AWG wires to power your motor. The 4 wires in the motor pintail are to avoid a stiff cable.

Batteries will be connected in series requiring only a single breaker within 7” of the positive battery terminal. Whether you can switch the breaker or not depends on the specific breaker.

A 60A breaker won’t generally be rated for 60A continuous. Garmin says you can use a larger breaker. Garmin sells breaker part number 010-12832-40

    Fantastic. Thank you very much.

how would I go about connecting the 2 reds and 2 blacks to the terminals on the marineco receptacle? Would I just smush both in a crimp ring terminal and then marine shrink tubing the exposed copper?

I’d put a ring terminal on each and stack them on the screw
