I’m going to assume 20 mpg and you won’t know it’s thereIn reality I’d think it would be decent, but I’ll let you get some real answers. Just had to though

2008 Skeeter 21I. Yamaha 250 Series II.
2011 Toyota Tundra Crewmax 4x4.
I have no problems towing a Skeeter ZX185C w/ a 2019 Frontier. The mileage while towing is awful.
Should be pretty similar to towing with a Tacoma.
If you go to a midsize truck the last thing on your mind should be gas mileage. Ease of parking in smaller spots and taking up less room in the garage along with a smaller price tag would be the selling points. Many on here will tell you fullsize or nothing but they also don't know each person's situation and what is pushing them to the choices they make. The new Frontier is a good looking truck that's for sure.
2023 Xpress H18 with 115 SHO that's optioned to fit my wants and pulled by a little Ram.
Never argue with an idiot. They will drag you down to their level and beat you with experience. Just smile and walk away.
I have 2005 Tacoma double cab v6 and the brakes are underrated for the towing capacity. I would be more concerned about stopping it then pulling it with a midsize truck. Maybe someone with a Frontier can chime in about the stopping power while pulling.

You can upgrade your brakes on your truck and it will make a huge difference.
I have a 3k boat/motor/trailer that has no brakes that I tow with my '07 Tundra. I went to RockAuto.com and purchased new SLOTTED rotors for the front and new Slotted and Drilled rotors for the rear. Alson with that I upgraded to Semi-Metallic pads that grip those rotor a hell of a lot more than any ceramic pads on the market. Here are some examples for your truck.......but there are many others to choose from.

Double check if these are the correct ones for your truck if you do decide to upgrade your braking system. Buying from RockAuto gives you many many more choice over the crappy stuff you will get locally from a parts store or repair shop.

The best Rear Brake Shoes available would be these and also redo the fronts with Semi-Mettalic pads and Slotted / Drilled Rotors.

Having owned a mid-size truck pulling any full size boat.............would never do it again. It's not the getting rolling..........it's the getting not rolling in a hurry that really drove me nuts.
^^^^^^^ This is the reason I use a 2500 HD!!
I would think that it should tow well. The Frontier was redesigned for 2022 I believe. The fuel mileage is listed at 18mpg city and 24 highway with 310hp
Mine pulled the boat quite well. It was launching on steep ramps that was exciting.
Sometimes sliding down until the boat hit the water, usually.
I had a 2007 2wd Frontier 4.6 V6 pulled my 16 foot aluminum boat just fine. When I got my new 18 footer it sure was different. Went to a full size Silverado after that.
"I'm just looking for a bite"
I towed my 17ft z6 for years with a 2015 frontier just fine. now i own a sierra 1500 and i prefer it because it can accelerate much faster when you need to merge in highways and also stops faster when needed.
I pull a G3 175PF aluminum with my 2019 Colorado. It does a great job pulling but things can get exciting when hitting the brakes here in mountains. I would not think about pulling a Glass boat with it. Mileage is great and I'm not towing all the time. Other than towing, a great truck.
