This looks like a Suzuki ad. I don't own a boat rated for a 250 but if I did, I'd probably put a 250SS Suzuki on it. I already have a 200 Suzuki on my boat, not an SS, but it's only rated for a 200 motor. I think about the best selling point for the SS is you can buy one, and it is reasonable, as far as outboards, in the price category.
He went with a 3 blade prop. I like mine with a 3 blade but that extra inch of swing with a 16 inch diameter versus a 14 inch 4 blade makes the prop much more vulnerable to impact I M H O.

You're not joking about that motor having a short final gear. 27p in a prop that already seems to be extra stiff to begin with.
2023 Xpress H18 with 115 SHO that's optioned to fit my wants and pulled by a little Ram.

Never argue with an idiot. They will drag you down to their level and beat you with experience. Just smile and walk away.

Speed is subjective for sure. The problem we had is there's no way to swap motors on the same day, same environment, weather etc... The boat had an average of 70.8 on our local lake in summer tournaments, so I just guessed. Last weekend, in 90 degree weather, with the 26 scorpion, loaded (two people, two livewells, gear everywhere) it ran 68.9. So 2mph is a guess. Hole shot with the 26 was really good for that heat.

Couple other observations - the motor likes to run really high to get best speed. Super, uncomfortable high. I have it on the highest hole for the outboard, and can run it almost too the top of the THMarine Atlas without losing water pressure. I think I cold have gotten another .5 mph from it last weekend by jacking it up, but the fuel burn would have gone from 23gph to 27gph. On top of that, I'd have to look back and see the Atlas as high as it could go... which I don't like. Because of this I've ordered a Bob's hydraulic 12". I think they're a bit more beefy, and with those high motor settings it seems like the better option.

Second thing I noticed, it needs like 40 hours to run hard. Maybe it's a computer controlled break-in, or Suzuki uses harder metals, but the first 40 hours were so-so. We were warned of this longer break-in, so we didn't put any content until it really opened up.

At the end of the day its a bit of a sales pitch, could be a yamaha fully loaded down vs suzuki light load kind of deal

I did like the video. With the price of new boats, god forbid I blow a powerhead anytime here soon the suzuki would certainly be towards the top of the list for me. I got a few year of warranty left, but the thing about parts availability and the selector between hand and foot throttle seems awesome.

Heard that they are great motors. Only downside is if there’s a service center for Suzuki near you. None for 1000 miles here.

The merc / yamaha marine dealers here are so booked out that they might as well be 1000 miles away
