    Boat Alarm Systems

    Good morning,

I have done a few searches here on BBC regarding boat alarm systems and couldn't find any current info that wasn't a few years old. I have researched online as well and there are a few options that seem practical like the TH Marine 2-way alarm kit or their loc-r-bar with lock that is an alarm as well, and there were a few others. I also found that some folks have been happy with just sitting a simple motion detector alarm in their boat (basically does the same as the TH Marine 2-way alarm). I fished club tournaments several years ago, but we never travelled overnight, but now my son is on his Schools Bass Fishing Team and every tournament will be an overnight trip which has me wanting to invest in some theft prevention. Thus, I figured I would reach out to the guys here that travel a good bit with their rigs and see what is working best for them. Thanks in advance for your time and input.

    Thanks,
    Todd

I would avoid the TH marine alarm system, I went with another board members recommendation and installed a viper alarm designed for cars. Much better quality and way more features.

I use a Harbor Freight Driveway alarm....Cheap and it works.
Place sensor in floor board of boat in a Walmart bag and Alarm
unit in window of Motel to get a good signal...

I use a cheap baby monitor. It picks up the slightest noise and also alerts if the power is interrupted on the boat side.

I installed a [Viper 3121v motorcycle/boat alarm, includes siren,] + optional >> flashing LED, proximity motion sensor, magnetic reed switches (3121v discontinued now, but some are still available here or there). Local Viper Dealer would not install alarm in my boat, so I had to do it.

Aleph DC-1561 switches are small and work great.

Botepon LED from Amazon may be brighter than some LED strips. So have siren with blinking LED.

I have a "page alert " from the 80s. Any hatches open, motion detected, or shock and it sets off sends message to pager up too 1 mile away. Can be silent so you can go beat the crap out of the thief or has alarm sounding
