Cumberland River & Wolf Creek Dam

I'll be at the dam camping early October. How far down the river from the dam can you go in a boat before you hit shallow riffles? I'm sure it depends on the generation schedule. I have a small aluminum boat would like to get into some smallies but will fish for whatever is biting. I can't find a lot of info on this stretch of river, just a lot on the dam tailwater area. thanks

U could hit a riffle in the first minute if they are not generating. I have seen the ramp out of the water when they are not generating.

I’ll keep an eye on the generation schedules. How about smallies down by burkesville on the river or in Lake Cumberland early October?

you can catch smallies in the river but you can catch way more on the lake.
