    Sealing Power Pole Spikes

If you touch the spikes on my PPs you end up with fiberglass in your hand. I was thinking about spraying them with clear to see if it would seal them. Anyone else had this issue or tried to seal them?

Call Power Pole & tell them what's going on. You'll probably have new spikes in a few days as a warranty. Buddy of mine had a 1/2 empty Gatorade bottle roll onto switch & deploy his while trailering resulting in about 18 inches being ground off each one before he noticed. He called & told PP what happened fully expecting to pay for them & they sent him 2 spikes under warranty no charge.

I ordered heavy duty heat shrink tubing (marine grade with adhesive) and put it on the new ones to keep the wear down and minimize splinters. Adding the spikes (Hydrilla gear, k&k custom) epoxied to the spikes with the tubing was the best answer. Ozark rocks beat the heck out of my spikes, now with no exposed fiberglass, no more splinters. I do replace the tubing every year or two for about $5. Zero wear on the spikes since, not that it matters, but it is one less thing to maintain.

So I called PP today and asked what I could do to seal the spikes to resolve the issue with the fiberglass splinters. The guy I talked to asked me what color I had. I advised him they were white. He asked for my address and said he would have 2 of the new black ones in the mail! I have always heard that PP's customer service is the best in the business but have never needed them. Obviously it it true!

    Thanks for the suggestion.
