Question Removing sleeve from TM plug...

    40aTMplug.jpg

I want to remove the sleeve from a TM plug like the one in this photo to inspect the wire connections. In spite of how hard I push from the back of the sleeve to eject the plug it will not budge. Anyone had this issue and successfully removed the sleeve? Squirt lube inside? Other way to loosen the sleeve to make removing it possible?

Mine has 2 screws on the side and then the outer part separated and then you could attach the wires.

I've never seen that particular plug before but I would guess it screws together. Easiest way would be to plug it in then see if the outer part screws off.

I am replacing the plug and receptacle so I ripped it off. The sleeve does not have external screws holding it on nor does it screw on. Thanks for the replies.

That sounds like an occasion where I would have said to that plug "who's you fu**ing daddy now, bi**ch???"

    Hope the replacement goes well.

Replacement was easy. Went with the Attwood version of the 50a plug and receptacle. It is the same as the Motorguide version but you can find them much less $. Haven't been out yet but all tests fine in the garage. There was clearly a short or something in the other setup. When I realized it was not rated for current that my TM might POTENTIALLY pull, it was extra motivation to quit ignoring it.
