Hard to beat a quick trip to the grocery store! Nothing better than some Frank's red hot fried catfish when you know what you're doing. Some of the best fish in the water in my opinion

Very nice. I’ve taken up catfishing the last couple years and really enjoy it. Been targeting bigger fish mostly but love catching all of them.

We set out jugs for catfish at night to catch ours. We are really after the 2-7 pounders. We throw the big ones back. We catch shad in a cast net for bait

I got to thinking one day, since I know right where the shad are at, why not bass fish after we put the jugs out?

Now we catch some great bass at night while waiting to pick up jugs. Don't be afraid to make some casts at night with a big black buzzbait or spinnerbait while waiting on your catfish to show up

Blue cats, especially large BC suck to eat imo. Not good for anything but a good fight

We take aluminum boat up to the mouth of the river, get out & wade the shoals @ the River. Made our first trip this weekend. Not a single person on the River. Biggest was 12lb flathead. All channels & flatheads. Ended up with 16lbs of dressed/filets.

Skipjack when you can get them are great bait for Cats. Not sure how they could possibly have a different scent than shad but im here to tell you they do. Seen skips double the catch over shad at times.

You’re exactly right. That was mid-stream. Next they were put in ice-cold saltwater for 20 minutes to firm up, then we trim the outer & inner skins if present. Finished product after that & either sell, keep in saltwater for max of 4 days if eating, or they get froze.

Caymas, why not get an electric filet knife and skip the step of trimming/pulling skin? It takes me less than a minute to perfectly clean a catfish. I also soak in ice cold saltwater before freezing or cooking

Catfishing can be a blast. We got them over 100 pounds here and you could catch a 50 at anytime, anywhere. It's a blast.
Hang on. I'll help you in 77 minutes.

No real reason other than being old school & enjoying the time together cleaning, bs’g, & enjoying good times spent. Been doing this since I was a child. Lost some of the granddads, & dads along the way but still continuing the tradition.

    Art,

    Good to see you posting.

You always have been good at night fishing.

Are you still working at the hospital?
