    Bass Elite Anglers Scale

When I fished tournaments I never trusted scales, used a balance beam, but the Elites seem to trust a particular brand of scales as they look the same on the tv coverage. What scale are they using as I occasionally fish a private lake that can produce a PB? I understand that the accuracy of scale is relative to which fish weighs more or less as that is in the margin of error with the actual weight but the many times I saw the scale used on the Sabine makes me think that it is a good scale.

Check out catch commander, they are pricey but they are supposed to be very good.

I use the Rapala touch screen scale but I always weigh the fish and turn it off and then back on again. Usually the second time it’s 2oz heavier. Tried a third time and it’s the same as the second. I’ve noticed the first weigh is 2oz low quite commonly.

I have both the Catch Commander and the Rapala. The Catch Commander is my go to! Easy to use, easy to see in daylight and very accurate. In over 3 years of use, my total weight has been accurate to within 1oz, mostly less, to our expensive club scales.

I only keep the Rapala in my boat as a back up or if a co angler wants to use them.

The Brecknell scales MLF used are quite accurate but don’t store weights for culling. I caught a good fish Saturday that weighed 4.97 lbs. on my Brecknell and 5.00 on the scale used at the weigh in.

I use scales for most, but if they are close and I know an once matters, the balance beam comes out. There were several times they went to a balance beam after weighing them from what I saw.

I've done the same and I have not had an instance yet that the scale was wrong.

This. Anything within 2 oz I put on the beam, otherwise I trust the scale.

Same here. I have a cheap rapala but it’s just extremely accurate for whatever reason. I’ve never had it be wrong using the beam on fish within hundredth of each other in weight.

This is the one Tyler Rivet uses. I haven't used it personally but I got one for my buddy as a gift and he says it works well

I bought one a year ago. I think it locks too fast and pulled it out of the passenger console two weeks ago and crystals are all piled up in the bottom of the read out.

The last three I've had have always been accurate

I've had a Brecknell...Pros - Accurate...Cons - Big, expensive, crapped out after 2 years (it got drizzled on)
Snail Trail...Pros - Small, cheap and accurate...Cons - some of the number sections on the display have gone out
Ego (the one I'm currently using)...Pros - small, mid priced, accurate and supposedly water-proof (I called them and they said they haven't had any claims for them getting wet) So far so good no Cons.

I record tournament weights on an app on my phone (Easy Culling) so I don't care about stored weights.

A lot of pros use the rapala touchscreen. I have the rapala high contrast scale and really like it. Anything that's close I balance beam to double check, but generally whatever the scale says is right. Hoping to snag a bubba scale at some point though. Looks really nice.

Does it matter if it is accurate if it is consistent?

Not really, but it is nice to have a good idea where you are at weight total wise.
