    Rt188 question

Would anyone happen to know if it is solid metal underneath this plastic trim piece or is there an access hole underneath it? It feels like it may have a hollow spot underneath it, but hoping someone may know for sure. I am wanting to add another clamshell right behind the factory one to run hydraulic steering lines, but wanting to try and get a view of what is in that area first. Thanks in advance.

Solid. You've got access where the steering cables are currently.

Thanks for the response, much appreciated! I have added and run a lot of electronics through the clam shell from front to rear, so it will be tight removing the one steering cable and replacing it with the 2 seastar upgraded Kevlar hydraulic lines. Hopeful they will make it, but was preparing for a backup plan just in case.

Its hollow underneath on my 2018 RT188. I found a gap between the metal when you look up underneath from the back compartment. I used it to run wires for my LED lights strips on the gunnel. I also pushed my extra transducer cable into that are from the hole were the tube runs to the center console.
