    Pump problems

    I have a few questions.
    2009 z9 cdc
I have a livewell pump failure.
When I hit the button on the dash the light flashes. I have tried to reset it the light goes out but it does not fix the issue. I hear the pump click 1 time when I try to start it. I swapped it when a different cartridge and the same thing happens. I took the "bad one" and touched it to the battery post and it worked.

The ecm or pcm was replaced 2 years ago. Everything else on the panel worked fine until last week I noticed my auto bilge pump light started staying on but it was not pumping. I'm assuming it's bad. It's a mayfiar model 1700 1600gpm with a auto switch.

I have to say the wiring on this thing is a train wreck.

So here are my questions. The pumps say they need a fuse. I see no fuses for the pumps. The fuse block under the dash does not have any impact on the pumps. I pulled every fuse and they still work.

I have the nitro color codes for the wiring.

Does the ecm act as the fuse? Or is there a hidden set of fuses.
The pumps wires an have a plug. The wires to the plug and from the plug to never never land In the hull, are not color coded. I'm assuming the wiring harness to the ecm eventually is spliced with these wires somewhere.

Where do the wires from the harness change over from the color code to the pump wires. I figured I'd start there before I replace the panel or ecm again.

How do the livewell pumps know when to turn off. I don't see any relays so is that the ecm too? Or are the timer relays hidden too?

Went through this ordeal when converting mine over to manual switches on my newer z20. On most of the devices in the boat, you do have a set of inline fuses. Guessing somewhere buried in your bilge you have the fuses for your livewell pumps. Also, the timers for livewells are integrated into the ecm.

Did you find where the ecm harness connects to the pumps factory wires? My first try is going to be a new set of wires from there to the pumps

Yes, the wiring sticky here has some of the pinouts (mine was slightly different). The thing I did was use a 12V probe to power up devices one at a time out of the ecm harness. If you have a blown fuse or bad wiring you wouldn't be able to use that method unfortunately.
