I am hoping someone could help me with my new boat. I am having a problem getting my motor to turn over. I turn the key and it whines but it won't engage the starter. I jump start it and it will turn over. If the motor doesn't start I turn the key off and try again and it whines again. If I lit it sit for a minute, it will attempt to start the motor again. I put a new battery in it and the problem still exists. I feel like the starter is spinning but not turning the gears, if this makes since. I am just looking to see if there is something I can check before I take it back to the dealer. Someone mentioned to me that the bolt on top of the flywheel may be loose. Any suggestions before I take the cowl off and look at it?

The motor is an '84 Johnson 150 2 stroke.
