anyone work at a etec dealer?

the reason i ask is i recently bought a used boat that has a 40 etec on it and the previous owner let the motor swivel to far to the side and it broke the lower engine cover.ive talked to 2 other local dealers and got conflicting answers.one says i cant buy just one side and the other says i can.the model is e40dplsrc serial is 05061617.if anyone could give me a strait answer i sure would appreciate it.thanks also are these engines as good as the hype?

I don't work for an E-TEC dealer but:
It is my understanding when servicing 04/05 yr models you have to buy both port & stbd covers due to a change in the covers for 06 & up models. The new covers are about 4" longer than the old and therefore will not match the old one you want to reuse. Another possibility would be to search for an original cover used.

To satisfy your curiosity call BRP customer support & ask them.
I believe the contact number is listed under one of the pinned topics on the EV/JO forum page.

I'm @ an E-Tec dealer in Okla. Sport is right, due to design changes you have to buy both sides.

I hope your sitting down for this. The port side, P/N5005165 and starboard side P/N 5005166 list for $630 EACH............WOW!! That's pretty ridiculous. Let me do some dealer inquiries and see if another dealer might have them in stock @ a little better price. I'll get back with you.
