I have a 2001 225 ho ficth. the battery compartment was flooded all the way to the top. I drained it and replaced the oil. Several months later took it to the lake for a club event. The night before I put new plugs in it. Started and ran great for a few hours. On a long run I noticed it would not go above 5000 rpms so I headed back closer to the launch ramp. The next time I started it, got an alarm. I shut it off and restarted it. It would not come up on plane. So I idled 2 hours back to the marina and put it on the trailer. The next day I pulled the plugs and #6 had excessive oil and fine metal shavings on it. I checked compression and had aprox. 125 # on 1-5, 6 was 120
Questions
Did the motor go into safe mode?
What could cause the shavings?
What should be my next step?
Thanks Randall
