Well, Northeast Texas is finally getting rain.....and a right smart storm as well. Looks like it might just set in awhile. Here's hoping the lakes come up at least a smidgen!!!

Don't get your hopes up Skip. As harsh as it sounds, it is getting hard to feel sorry for the folks that are getting flooded when we haven't seen a good rain in almost 2 years.

I drove through a good rain on my way to the airport. The New Orleans radio said it was a "miserable, rainy day". Some people just don't know how to appreciate a good thing.

I forgot what rain looks like....Haven't seen it in a month!!

We finally got a good one last night..except it was a lot more on one side of town than the other.

I only got about an inch but the north side of town flooded bad... Even had a 17 yr old kid playing in the water and got swept thru a big drain culvert and drowned..

It did look like a couple of our lakes have been catching some good water

They need it.......

It is still raining here..........started about 1-2 pm.......rained for a good 3hours or so......then stopped and now has been raining for a good hour or so again...... but haven't seen any rain at all in the last couple weeks.......so it is needed.........been watching the neighbors 2-3 acre pond drying up......there is a big hump running right thru the middle of it.......wanted to sneak over an fish it.......

sad to hear about the 17 yr. old......must of been a heck of a lot of water going into the drain........

Elvis I have 2 sisters in Longview. One of them is into politics and is an elected official there.... She worked for Bush when he was the Gov. She is also on one of the water district boards..........{Not sure what that position is called} But one of the perks that goes with it, is access to a lake front house on Fork......She keeps trying to get me to come down and use the house, just can't seem to get it done...
I have not fished Fork since about 97 or so.. We used to go every April for a week of some prime time bed fishing. The last year we went there were several boats that had rigged up some extra tall sight platforms..And were using water dogs to snag those big girls... It made me so mad I quit going. One of them had welded a tree stand to a john boat (about 10 ft tall)

Man I figure if I had to go to that much advantage to catch a fish I would just quit

Anyway maybe I can sneek off to Fork and give you a shout

Well, we didn't get any more after that good rain yesterday. We went down to the boat ramp to look at the lake, hoping it came up a little . Instead, we found the rumors to be true....they are drawing it down again . It looks so bad...mostly dry humps all over the place, I would be afraid to run a boat down the boat run now!!

Only good thing is that this would be a good time to chart the creek on the GPS.......Gerald has been wanting to anyway. Boy, it'll take a few years for Lake O Pines to recover from the draught and the foolishness of the Corps of Engineers!!!!!!!
