    Megaware battery guard

Just a new to me product I saw. Looks like a good idea. Has anyone tried them out?

Yep I have 5. Worth it for me with 5k in batteries that I want to last. In the tray my batteries don’t shift and slide as well.

They look like a slimey mess in the bag. Are they really as wet as they look in the package? Can you cut them into custom sizes for odd sized batteries? Thanks for any replies.

Couple videos I watched shows being cut. Didn't look slimy just like a soft rubber mat

They aren’t slimly. They are a soft rubber pad. Somewhat squishy. Honestly they feel like, look like and smell like melted down soft plastic fishing lures.

When I installed new lithiums i laid down 2 pieces of 1/8” thick deep ribbed rubber matting back-to-back. The bottom layer ribs down, the top layer ribs up. About a 1/4” thick overall. Plenty of cushion for lighter lithiums. Absolutely no slip which was the main goal.
Rubber-Cal 1/8” fine rib mat. Probably some better choices, but it was on hand, and it works.
Certainly, some cushioning under a marine battery could be beneficial. But, they don’t rate a Tempurpedic.

You can also use a exercise mat / yoga mat.

Bringing this back from the dead for a reason. Any long-term reviews with these being used in conjunction with lithium battery cases that are made from what seems to be similar to standard hard plastics? The reason I’m asking is because I just purchased two of them along with two new lithium batteries to add into my system. I’m concerned that this material is very similar to plastisol, and may melt or damage the casing after lengthy exposure. Much like what plastic worms do with certain types of plastic when they come in contact with one another. The mat does leave an oily residue in the tray and on the bottom of the battery. Any input would be greatly appreciated, and maybe mention which batteries you are running…

The two new batteries I grabbed are LiTime.

    Thanks.

They claim to be compatible with abs plastics….which is what the battery cases are made of.

You could use just about any open or closed cell foam sheet for this application…..but the megaware pad might provide better vibration isolation and impact cushioning.

Agreed, that the Megaware mat will excel performance-wise…just wanting to be careful and not risk ruining the case.

I was under the impression that battery case material can vary, hence the question and seeking out any long term reviews.

Guess I’ll just move forward/install them and hope for the best.

Seems like a solution looking for a problem, or just good marketing.

    I've got Ionic's. 1 - 125AH, and 3 - 50 AH. just strapped down tightly in my trays. 4th year no issues.

I have 2 of these and there is a oil residue coming off them, I am on the phone with megaware now, they said it is normal and if you wipe it off it will likely come back. it is a poly elastomer, you can wash it off with mild soap but likely to come back
