I am going to make an L-bracket mount for mounting a GT-54 transducer to the side of a 6" Detwiler manual jack plate. How far below the bottom of the jack plate should the top of the transducer be? There is a cross bar at the bottom of the jack plate. Are there any concerns about side scan signal distortion caused by the jack plate?

I have a similar setup. I have to trim up slightly from the lowest trim position or I have some blockage. I don't have exact measurements but my ducer is about 2 inches higher than the bottom of my boat. I'm in FL and don't want to hit the ducer on anything in the shallows. But at 3 mph my images are wonderful
