anyone been on Lake James recently?...wandering what temp has gotten up to and if Smallies are up yet?

On Lake James yesterday. water temp in areas I was in was 58.9. Alot of fish on beds. i did not cross under the Canal Bridge but I'm sure that the Smallies have moved up judging from all the Largmouths I saw on the beds. Come on up Frank.

Also went yesterday and fished linville side . Wind was bad white caps and rollers made for a rough ride. Saw a few small largemouths but the smallies were not there. Next week should be great if weather stays warm. The cold wind cooled the water and the fish pulled out.

Fished our Club T on James Saturday and they are starting to lock on in areas.Water Temp was anywhere from 61-64 and There was a few 16+lb bags weighed in..Just the Start and gonna get even Hotter as they all start to get up and start making Babies..

went Sat. 4-25.09 all we caught were small except did get a 4 to 5 lb smallie on top water. we only fished the Linville side and saw only one bedding fish it was 17 in and skinnie male put him back. did see several nice smallies swimming down the banks and were alot of empty fresh bed. lakes this clear have to be effected by tournament fishermen this time of the year. ..
