I am associated with the Cumberland River Compact which is a conservation group that focuses on issues involving one of the great rivers and it's tributaries running through TN and KY. Many miles of excellent fisheries that I truly love from Lake Cumberland to the end of Lake Barkley. They are one of 8 finalists in a contest through MillerCoors that will award them up to a $25,000 grant that will be used in one of their newest ventures to help sustainable farming in the area. I guess I'm kind of a tree hugger but I damn sure like to enjoy the outdoors so it's pretty important to me. I know many of you also care about our waterways and they would appreciate your vote...

The Cumberland River Compact is one of eight finalists to receive funding on programs that focus on agriculture and water issues from the River Network & MillerCoors. The funding will go toward our newest effort, Sustainable Tennessee Farms. This program will provide tools for all types of farmers to aid in achieving a positive triple bottom line. Sustainable farms are profitable, promote environmental stewardship, and reduce grower and consumer exposure to harmful chemicals. This program pulls together conventional and organic farmers, local, state, and federal agencies, extension offices, and non-profits.
This program will reach hundreds of farmers, have the potential to impact tens of thousands of food production acres, and countless stream miles. The final product will be a methods manual farmers can use as a guide to gage their sustainability, learn how to achieve more, and register their farm as a pledge towards a better environment.
Voting is open from March 1 to March 26.
