Fished with a friend on the Potomac today. Really nice to fish the river without a gazillion boats all over the place. We saw about 5 or 6 bassboats today. Wouldn't it figure that 2 boats came right in on us....only on the Potomac...30+ miles of river to fish and they still had to fish the same stretch of bank as us.![]()
Oh well, I don't let it bother me anymore, just amusing. We caught a few in Mattawoman on wood early on the beginning of the outgoing tide. Water temps around 48-49. 1 on blk/blue jig and 2 on chatterbaits. We didn't find anymore till the early stages of the incoming tide on some pilings on the VA side. Had 3 on chatterbaits there as well. Water warmed to 50. River is in pretty descent shape, small amount of debris still floating. Mattawoman grass is not completely gone, actually still a little too much to fish wood effectively with chatterbait. Water clarity was 2'+. Virginia side was a little more stained (1' visibilty). Beautiful day to be out with a good friend and catch a few bass, there won't be too many more like this one.
