So the last 10 to 12 times to the lake my motor won't start right off. 1996 (maybe I saw somewhere it was actually a 1995?) 150 Faststrike J150GLEDB. Bought new in 1996 on a 181 DC Champion. Here's what happens. Launch the boat and crank, crank, crank. Usually it never even tries to hit, fire, start. One time it started right up just by turning the key. Every other time I have tried to advance the throttle to the fast idle, once the engine then fired. Usually when the motor won't fire I get the smell of gas like it flooded. Kick down the trolling motor and fish. Try to start it several times during the day and sooner or later it will fire. Runs fine and will continue to fire and run the rest of the day. The next weekend same story. Fuel filters look good, bulb pumps up and holds pressure. Cleaned and gaped the spark plugs. Had my son crank the motor with a spark plg removed----no spark! Tried several times, even at night when I would be sure and see the spark. No spark. Tried the top left plug when looking at the back of the motor. Then tried the middle right plug. No spark. Then I got spark. Went back to the first plug, no spark. Then I got spark after a couple more tries. Like I said, once the boats starts, it runs good all day with no starting problems. The next day or weekend, same problem. Ideas??? Thanks, Brad.
