    Birds nets

I’m pretty sure I know the answer. Just spooled up braid with mono backing and it would fluff the spool when it hit the ground with the practice weight hit the ground. my finger was on spool. This means my mono backing wasn’t tight enough right? Probably going to do the electric tape route.

It sounds like you didn't put enough tension on the braid when you filled it. If your finger was on the spool as it was falling it shouldn't have kept turning at all.

Actually it sounds like you may not have enough brake on it. In any case just tie the braid to something and walk it off and crank it back on under some tension.
    No need to waste it.
